Description & Purpose

An additional grant for social grant recipients who require full-time care due to disability or illness.

Eligibility Criteria

To qualify for Grant-in-Aid, applicants must meet the following criteria:

Already receiving a social grant (except Foster Child Grant)
2
Medical report confirming need for full-time care
3
South African citizen, permanent resident, or refugee

Important Notes:

  • All documents must be originals or certified copies (not older than 3 months)
  • Non-South African citizens must provide proof of refugee/permanent residence status
  • Additional documents may be requested based on your specific circumstances

Once your application is submitted, here's what happens next:

  2. 2 You will receive an SMS notification with the outcome
  3. 3 If approved, payments will begin on the next payment cycle
  4. 4 If declined, you will receive a reason and can appeal within 90 days
